Takurua Vets provides advanced medical, diagnostic and treatment services for companion animals across Christchurch and the wider South Island.
We work collaboratively with referring veterinarians and commit to returning patients to their primary clinic for all ongoing care once the referral objective has been completed.
Our referral philosophy is simple: referrals should reduce friction, not create it. When you refer a patient to Takurua Vets, the clinical objective is clearly defined, communication is maintained throughout the case, and the client is returned to your care unless otherwise requested.
We accept referrals for advanced medical investigations, imaging and diagnostics, complex case management, surgical procedures, 24 hour monitoring, and Radioactive Iodine (I-131) treatment for feline hyperthyroidism. If you are unsure whether a case is appropriate for referral, you are welcome to contact us for an informal discussion prior to submission.
To refer a patient, please complete the form below and email all relevant clinical history and diagnostics to reception@takuruavets.nz, referencing the patient’s name.
Our team will review the case and contact the appropriate party to arrange next steps.
Referrals are reviewed during business hours.
Urgent cases can be discussed by phone if immediate triage or care is required.
